Sri Lankan Pipe Snake

Sri Lanka is home to a large array of different snakes and the Sri Lankan pipe snake is one of the snakes species found in the country. Hind limb vestiges as well as conical tails are found in these snakes and in addition to this, their heads are wedge-shaped. The scientific name of the Sri Lankan pipe snake is Cylindrophis maculata. 

The family of these snakes is Cylindrophiidae but it is said that they were previously assigned to the family Aniliidae and Uropeltidae. The Sri Lankan pipe snake is also known as the Ceylonese Cylinder Snake and it is occasionally and simply known as the pipe snake. The pipe snake is found in almost all the regions of the country but the exact territories of these creatures have not yet been confirmed.
